چکیده
Background: Streptococcus mutans is considered as a major microorganism causing tooth decay, affecting individuals globally. Different types of chewing sticks possess anti cariogenic properties, traditionally been consumed in maintaining dental hygiene. Usage these can be economical developing and rural regions where caries health concern.
Objective: The current study aims to evaluate antibacterial action different type extract on mutans. Methods: Aqueous extracts Azadiracta indica (Neem), Melia azedarach (Bakain), Mangifera (Mango), Salvadora persica (Peelu), Terminalia chebula (Harhar), Dalbeigia sissoo (Tali) Juglans regia (Akhrot) plants which have justified folk use were prepared Punjab University College Pharmacy, University. Next, vitro antimicrobial activity was studied by broth dilution method Post Graduate Medical Institute, Lahore. Moreover, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) well the bactericidal (MBC) quantitatively evaluated basis turbidity index.
Results: There significant effect aqueous bacterial inhibition. MIC MBC values range 6.125 100 mg/mL against S. notable occurred with showing 6.25mg/mL 12.5 mg/mL, respectively. Alternatively, demonstrated 8.33mg/mL 16.66 parameters Conclusions: Each plant exhibited moderate high tested strain. However, Azadirachta showed promising mutans

Antibacterial Effects of Natural Herbal Extracts on Streptococcus mutans: Can They Be Potential Additives in Dentifrices?
Background Many plants or herbs exhibit potent antimicrobial activity against various microorganisms. They have no side effects and presumably act against and modulate the factors that are crucial for microbial survival or their activity. Streptococcus mutans is a pioneer bacteria implicated in dental caries. This study aims to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of garlic bulbs, pudina leaves,...
